Mental health awareness week 2021
Self-care has become something of a buzzword lately as more and more people start to focus on and prioritise looking after themselves. There are so many things we can do to set the tone for a great week or unwind after a stressful one. In honour of Mental Health Awareness Week this year, with the theme of nature in mind, I’m sharing 5 ideas for things you can do in nature to clear your mind.
Go for a walk: if you’ve ever prayed whilst walking, you know this is such a peaceful way to spend time with God. There’s nothing like a long country walk to spend time in solitude with the maker of the beautiful things you’ll see on your walk!
Go for a bike ride with a friend: if you don’t own a bike, many parks now rent them out and it’s such a great way to relive old memories, especially if, like me, you haven’t been on a bike in a long time.
Picnic in the park: I last did this about 4 years ago with a few friends and still relive those fond memories. Grab some chilled wine, a lovely wicket basket and some snacks and you’re good to go. Cheap and cheerful!
Gardening/plant care: I recently became a plant mum and honestly, I wish I’d done it sooner! I got mine from www.patchplants.com
Visit the zoo: if you love animals, the aquarium or zoo are great places to marvel at some of God’s wonderful creatures.
