Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 starts today and in honour of this week, I’ll be posting everyday sharing tips for keeping your mind healthy. The mind can be very fragile and is sometimes simply neglected. Recently, there’s been a bigger focus on mental health and rightly so. We have to keep both our minds and bodies healthy and oftentimes, a healthy mind will result in a healthy body! Today, I will be focusing on how journalling can help to keep your mind healthy.
I've always been a HUGE fan of journaling and growing up, this was such a good outlet for me. As an introvert, I don't always like to talk about certain things and rather than internalise them, I found that journaling allowed me to objectively examine some of my challenges and help me get through and learn from them. I'm not actually sure how I came to discover journaling but I do remember that as a child, my dad would buy me super girly diaries (you know, the ones with the padlocks) and I would write all sorts of things in there. And yes, I did start each journal entry with 'Dear diary' - don't laugh, we've all been there… I hope. If you’re new to journaling and are not sure where to start, there are some very simple questions you can reflect on and journal about:
What are you most excited about today?
What has been your biggest challenge today (or this week)?
What‘s one new thing you have learnt lately?
What would you want to focus on this week/month?
What are you most anxious about and how do you plan to alleviate this anxiety?
Hopefully these questions give you some great thoughts to reflect on. If you haven’t already started journalling and are thinking of doing so, a new journal notebook might be in order. Please visit our shop to browse our notebook collection.
