International Podcast Day

Hey guys, so I came across an Instagram post celebrating International Podcast Day on 30th September 2019 (never knew there was such a thing!) and wanted to add my own two cents about my favourite podcasts. Up until last year, I never paid any attention to my podcast app on my iPhone and always thought I was more of a visual learner so I didn't think I would enjoy listening to podcasts. A friend at work introduced me to a podcast about true crime and that's when my love of podcasts started. Whilst I don't listen to that particular podcast (Case Files) anymore, I started to explore other podcasts about topics that I would enjoy and to my surprise, I found lots of podcasts that I would binge listen to on my journey to and from work. Bearing in mind, some of these have been going for a good few years so there were hundreds of episodes that I needed to catch up on. I'm passionate about learning and always find an opportunity to learn something new or learn more about something I am interested in.

This year specifically, I set out to learn more about personal finance, entrepreneurship/business management and leadership and found a few podcasts that dealt with those topics. These podcasts were usually quite short and to the point so I would pick up the gems I needed and spend some time reflecting on them and be filled with so many ideas. I began to look forward to this time in my car and began to send myself text messages (thanks to Siri) whenever I had an idea. The podcasts also built my knowledge on things I wanted to try so I was more confident to go ahead with them. Essentially, what I'm trying to say is that podcasts are great and if you can find a few that you like, you should definitely invest some time in listening to them because there are so many people out there with great experiences and knowledge that you will find useful. So, here is a list of my three favourite podcasts this year:

  1. The Side Hustle Show

  2. TED Talks Daily

  3. HBR IdeaCast

You may notice that these are not necessarily Christian/Religious - I have just ventured into the world of podcasts so I'm still discovering new ones. These are the ones I love so far and would recommend for leadership & entrepreneurship. There are also lots of great podcasts now available on Spotify and that is my next pool to dip into as a I have a premium account and need to make the most of the benefits that come with it! I hope you try podcasts too - there's so much out there that you can learn and it's so easy to listen to on the go, allowing you to make use of time when you're driving or doing chores around the house. Happy Listening!!!
